Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account with one of these providers?
Yes. This plugin connects WordPress to an email service; it is not an email service itself. Several have free tiers that cover a small site comfortably — Brevo allows 300 emails a day, Resend and MailerSend 3,000 a month, Mailjet 6,000 a month.
Which provider should I pick?
If you have no preference, Postmark for reliability, Brevo for the largest free allowance, or Resend if you want the quickest setup. If you already pay for Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, use that mailbox — it costs nothing extra.
Why is my email still going to spam?
Getting mail delivered is the provider's job; getting it trusted is DNS. Publish SPF and DKIM records for your domain in your provider's dashboard. Until those exist, even a perfectly configured plugin will land in spam.
Can I keep my API key out of the database?
Yes. Define it in wp-config.php using the pattern SFWM__ in capitals — for example SFWM_SMTP_PASS or SFWM_SENDGRID_API_KEY. The field then renders read-only and is never written to the database.
Will this conflict with my current SMTP plugin?
Yes — two plugins both rerouting wp_mail() will fight. Import your settings from Tools, then deactivate the other one. The Tools screen also lists any conflicting plugin it detects.
