Do I need WooCommerce?
The Subscriptions module does. The Memberships module runs on WordPress alone for lifetime and fixed-length plans; WooCommerce adds product and order based grants, and the Subscriptions module enables subscription-driven plans.
Can I use only one of the two modules?
Yes. Switch the other one off on the suite settings screen and it is never loaded.
What happens to members when a subscription is cancelled?
Subscription-driven plans follow the subscription: access ends when the subscription is no longer active, and any roles the plan granted are removed. Roles the plugin did not grant are left alone.
Are renewals charged automatically?
Where the gateway supports off-session payments and a token was saved, yes. Otherwise the customer receives a renewal invoice email with a payment link.
